My technician’s name was John (I think…I am TERRIBLE at names). I should remember his name because he was really great. Super helpful and took the time to explain what he was doing. He also set the expectation around what to expect with the treatment. Good employee you have there!

With less than a tenth of the population density of some surrounding cities, Oakland Township is a pleasant place to live.

Oakland Township is an affluent area and local laws are in place to limit commercial and industrial development. This means that the area is largely residential. It’s 36 square miles include several communities and three public school districts.

Oakland Charter Township History and Pests

Oakland Township has a long and distinguished history. It was recognized as early as 1785, which makes it one of the oldest designated townships in the state. However, it wasn’t until the 19th century that Oakland Township really started to develop. In the 1820s families began to arrive and settle. They built log cabins and established agricultural plots. As more families arrived, the town built school houses and churches to accommodate community needs. The first school house was built in 1827. This one room school was made of log and included a huge fireplace to keep students warm through the chilly Michigan winters. In 1855 the community built their first designated church for the Presbyterian community.

ver time the town became more and more developed. 1855 also saw the construction of a town meeting hall and in 1874 Oakland Township got its own post office. But the life blood of the town was its industry. During the 19th century, Oakland Township was home to a gristmill and a mill race. These mills, later renamed Goodison Mill, operated for more than a century and provided Oakland Township with a strong economy.

However, the early settlers weren’t the only communities to settle into Oakland Charter Township. These days, residents may find settlements of much less welcome communities. Like many towns, Oakland Township is home to a variety of household pests which can make your home feel like it has been invaded.

One such unwelcome community is made of carpenter ants. These industrious critters are large and live in expansive communities inside wood. Although they don’t eat the wood like termites do, carpenter ants do chew on wood and, in doing so, destroy it. Once a community of carpenter ants establish themselves in your deck or wood interiors, they can cause significant destruction.

Boxelder bugs are another community you might want to avoid. These seasonal pests tend to settle into a nest and return again and again. They live in large groups and if crushed they can stain your home’s walls, floors, or pretty much anything else they were on before meeting their untimely demise.

When you discover that a community of pests has tried to settle into your home, it is best not to handle it on your own. Instead, just give us a call and our team of Oakland Township pest control specialists will help you get rid of these nasty settlers once and for all.
