Wayne Geography and Pests

Wayne Official SealAs the Lower River Rouge flows along its course, it passes through the town of Wayne, Michigan. This small town of only 6 square miles has a lot to offer. From the bustling sidewalks of main street to the green shores of the river, this historic town has character.

Wayne is largely residential and mostly developed. The town features a historic downtown area, which benefited from renewal and redevelopment in the 1960s and 70s. These days, the area is home to a range of boutique shops and the farmer’s market.

However, head on down to Goudy Park and you leave the urban feel behind. Goudy Park is a great place to enjoy recreation on the Lower River Rouge. From here you can either enjoy the river from the banks or you can put in a canoe and explore the waterways.

As you explore Wayne’s natural areas, take care that you don’t bring home unwanted guests. Wayne is home to many common household pests. Several of these pests can join you for a ride into your home after a day spent exploring. For example, wood roaches prefer to live on or near wood. They can easily hitch a ride with you and set up camp in your home. If you notice these or any other pests, your best plan is to immediately contact us and we will send our local Wayne exterminators to remedy the issue.

Wayne History and Pests

Although there was no permanent settlement in the Wayne area prior to the early 19th century, the area was frequented by Native American tribes and French fur traders for generations before this. The Wayne area includes a section of the Sauk Trail, which was a main Native American thoroughfare before the establishment of European settlers in the area.

In the late 19th century, Wayne become a center for industry. Most of these industries were centered around transportation. In 1888, The Prouty and Glass Carriage Factory set up shop. Later, a myriad of early automobile factories arrived. Wayne even dabbled in aviation while Stinson Aircraft operated. In fact, the transportation tradition continues to this day, with Ford Motor Company maintaining two factories in the area.

In your homes, you may find some more hard working production lines. However, these lines are somewhat less desirable. Some homeowners may discover problems with ant infestations. Whether it be pharaoh ants or carpenter ants, that line of tiny marching pests is never a welcome site. When you notice your home filling up with marching pests, call us right away and we will immediately send out our Wayne pest control team to help.
